The three-day conference included a number of presentations from both corporate staff members and Project Managers. In addition to attending the more structured presentations, the Project Managers spent several hours attending small group meetings with individual corporate departments such as Benefits, Payroll and Billing. These small groups permitted similar contracts to discuss issues specifically related to their contracts with the corporate staff. The conference also afforded the Project Managers an opportunity to confer and present some of their collective challenges and ideas to the corporate staff during a special presentation on Thursday afternoon.
The overarching theme selected for this year’s conference was "compliance". Dario Marquez, Jr., President and CEO of MVM, has designated compliance as one of the top strategic objectives of the company for this year Compliance, which includes both statutory and contract compliance, plays an essential role in carrying out MVM’s goal to provide high quality service while adhering to all applicable requirements and regulations. The importance of compliance was communicated at the conference through formal presentations, during informal discussions, and even at the dinner on Tuesday night, where each table was named after a phrase that is synonymous with some aspect of compliance, such as “ducks in a row” and "no stone unturned".
At the end of the conference, a competition was held to see which conference participant had taken the “best photo” during the conference. Project Managers and corporate employees were encouraged to submit photos to the Office of the President so that Mr. Marquez could select a winner. In the end, Veronica Naman’s photo of teambuilding activities won first prize in the competition.
The conference provided field leaders and corporate staff with a valuable opportunity to interact face-to-face and discuss ways in which MVM can maintain compliance and improve efficiency on each of its contracts. However, as Mr. Marquez commented in his closing remarks, “The success of the conference remains to be seen. Now each of the initiatives and ideas discussed must be implemented in the field.” It is now up to each of us to take the wealth of knowledge and insight that was gained through the conference and put it into action at all levels of the company in order to improve MVM’s efficiency and maintain the high level of service that we seek to provide for each of our clients. |
